Refractory mud is divided into finished products and semi-finished products. The so-called finished refractory mud refers to that the raw material and clinker have been prepared by the manufacturer according to the proportion, and it only needs to add water and mix evenly when using on site; the semi-finished or non-finished refractory mud is that raw material and clinker are not mixed together, and when used on site, it can be fully mixed according to the composition of different slurries, and can be mixed evenly with water according to the regulations. According to the different composition materials, fire clay can be divided into clay refractory mud, high alumina refractory mud, silica refractory mud, magnesia refractory mud, etc. According to the different binders, fire resistant clay can be divided into the following three categories:

(1) Ceramic bonded refractory mud is a mixture of refractory fine aggregate and ceramic binder (plastic clay). The delivery state is dry, it needs to be used after adding water, and hardened by ceramic bonding at high temperature.   

(2) Hydraulic binding refractory mud is a mixture composed of refractory fine aggregate and hydraulic binder (cement). The delivery state is only dry, and it can be used after adding water, and there is no need to heat when hardening.   

(3) Chemical bonded refractory mud is a mixture of refractory fine aggregate and chemical binder (inorganic, organic inorganic, organic). The delivery state can be either slurry or dry, and hardened below the bonding temperature of the ceramics. According to the hardening temperature, this kind of refractory mud can be divided into two types: air hardening and thermal hardening. The air hardening refractory mud is usually prepared with water glass and other air hardening binders. Thermal refractory mud is usually prepared by phosphoric acid or phosphate. After hardening, this kind of refractory mud not only has high strength at various temperatures, but also has the characteristics of small shrinkage, tight joint and strong corrosion resistance.
